Cumberland Falls is on the Cumberland River, about 20 miles from Corbin, KY Cumberland Falls is very unique. It is now the ONLY place in the world that you can see a Moonbow.

Doing this assignment is one of the toughest assignments I've taken on. Taking images of the moonbow isn't as easy as it might look.

A little bit about the technical side of 'shooting the moonbow'. The Cumberland Falls State Park recommends ISO 400 film, an aperture of F4 and a timed exposure of 4 - 8 minutes. If you want photos of the moonbow and don't have a camera that you can use in manual mode, my advise is save your film. If you attempt to take pictures of the moonbow with a P&S camera that uses a flash, save your film. The reason???? The moonbow is light refracted through the mist of the falls. You cannot light light!!

Some of the above photos where shot on slide film. The rest were shot with my Canon D30 camera. As you can tell there is a very significant difference in the exposures in the above images. I did use a wide variety of time exposures.

The digital photos have 'noise' in them. This is is not a fault of the camera. I was asking the camera to do more than it is designed to do.

I started working on this project for Moonbow Media with headquarters in Michigan.
